According to a report from journalist Thiago Ferreira, Arsenal is apparently interested in signing the 22-year-old player, who earlier this summer was highly linked with a move to Liverpool.
Even though the stated transfer fee was 34 million pounds, Fluminense, who was participating in the Copa Libertadores at the time, was adamantly opposed to letting their top player, Andre, go to another team.
Andre is set to depart Fluminese for a move to Europe in January of this year, and Arsenal and Liverpool are currently battling for the young player’s services. However, this January is likely to be an entirely different scenario because of this development.
The Gunners have a history of acquiring players directly from Brazil, with the most recent example being the 2019 acquisition of talented winger Gabriel Martinelli when he was still a teenager.
Another talented Brazilian youngster, Andre, may now be available for Mikel Arteta to sign, which would be a big setback for Liverpool’s intentions for the summer.
To put it more simply, Liverpool needs to outbid Arsenal in January in order to acquire Andre.
Liverpool is in no position to allow Arsenal to sign Andre before them since the midfielder is garnering increasingly high praise with each passing week.
The transfers that took place over the course of this summer left Liverpool with a dearth of depth in the centre midfield position; hence, the Brazilian is a dream signing for the Anfield club in the month of January.
Although Arsenal will be a tempting destination for Andre, Liverpool may be a better fit for the rising superstar who has the potential to become a star at Anfield in the future. Arsenal will be Andre’s top choice for a destination.
