Despite the fact that he had signed a contract with Liverpool in 2015, he was not able to play for the club since there were some difficulties with his work permit.

Between the years of 2019 and 2021, Liverpool allowed him to play for a number of European clubs on loan before selling him permanently to Union Berlin.

According to Awoniyi, he had always wanted to play for Liverpool, even if it meant competing against them when he was on the other team.

He reflected on the experience and remarked, “Playing at Anfield last season was a dream come true.” Playing there against Liverpool was obviously a bittersweet experience for me because, prior to my departure from Liverpool, I had daydreamed about having the opportunity to play there for them.

Liverpool presently possesses a robust variety of attacking options because to the presence of players such as Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, and Cody Gakpo, all of whom are in outstanding form.
