Liverpool had a relatively quiet transfer window this summer, with their only addition being Italian winger Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

They have also secured a deal to sign Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will join Anfield at the end of the season.

According to The Sun, Liverpool is among four clubs interested in Lille midfielder Angel Gomes. The 24-year-old was recently called up to the England squad by interim manager Lee Carsley.

Newcastle United reportedly have Gomes at the top of their wishlist but will face competition from Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Borussia Dortmund.

Gomes could be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, as his contract is set to expire. Carsley praised Gomes for his passion and knowledge of football, noting his keen interest in tactics and his ability to provide insightful feedback.

Carsley noted, “He often shares insights about build-ups from his experiences with other clubs or what he’s encountered, especially since he’s playing in France and sees different styles.”

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane commented on ITV, “Gomes is always available. He presents great options, which might create a bit of a selection headache.”

Arsenal legend Ian Wright added, “Angel Gomes is a name that’s come up alongside Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Seeing Gomes in midfield, always on the move with his excellent touch, he’s consistently available and provides numerous options, which could be a bit of a dilemma for the manager.”
