Looking to return to winning ways, Liverpool may have to do so without one of their key players. Arne Slot has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson is dealing with a hamstring issue, making him doubtful for the upcoming match.
Speaking to The Independent, Slot stated: “He has a slight issue with one of his muscles. We’re unsure if tomorrow’s game comes too soon for him.
“He didn’t feel it during the Milan game, but it worsened afterward. Now, we have to see if he’s ready for the weekend.”
He further added: “Alisson is still a doubt and we’ll have to wait and see if he can train today (Friday).”
This is a major setback for Liverpool, who depend heavily on their goalkeeper.
However, second-choice keeper Caoimhin Kelleher has consistently performed well when called upon and is expected to step in for the Brazilian.
Liverpool regained form and confidence midweek with a strong win against AC Milan in the Champions League, restoring their momentum after the Forest defeat.
Their ability to create chances and score goals showed that the Forest game was likely an outlier.
Slot has largely enjoyed a fit squad this season, but with Harvey Elliott’s injury and now Alisson’s hamstring issue, the team faces new challenges ahead of the Bournemouth clash.
