Nico Paz, one of Real Madrid’s most promising talents, has left the door open for a potential return to the Spanish giants. The 20-year-old Argentine sensation, who made his senior debut under Carlo Ancelotti last season, scored a memorable goal in a Champions League clash against Napoli. Despite his promising start, fierce competition in the first team led Nico to seek regular playing time elsewhere, joining Serie A newcomers Como this summer.
Under the guidance of former Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas, Nico is already making waves in Italy, showcasing the talent that once made him a standout at Real Madrid. In a recent interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the young midfielder reflected on his future, expressing his hopes of one day donning the famous white jersey again.
“Real Madrid in the future? I hope so. But right now, my focus is entirely on Como, and I’m giving my all for the team,” Nico said, hinting at a possible return to the club that still closely monitors his progress.
Real Madrid ensured they kept their options open when they let him go, retaining a buyback clause and a sell-on clause, signaling their belief in his potential. Nico also shared a special piece of advice he received from Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos before his departure.
“When Kroos retired, he came to me and said I should keep fighting, find my place, and that he believed in me. It’s a memory I cherish and something that motivates me every day,” Nico revealed.
Reflecting on his time with the first team, he recalled the support he received from manager Carlo Ancelotti, especially after his goal against Napoli.
“Ancelotti was happy for me after that goal. He knew how much it meant. He’s a coach who knows how to get the best out of his players and always asks for the utmost effort. He told me to show personality with the ball and to stay calm, which is something I’m trying to do here at Como.”
As Nico continues to develop his game in Italy, the future remains bright for the young playmaker. With his sights set on a potential return to Madrid, the club and its fans will be watching closely as he aims to fulfill the promise that once made him one of La Fábrica’s brightest stars.
