It’s not that I don’t like Arteta but his decision to bench that particular player today was the reason we lose…We might not finish in top-four if he keeps making such decision’: Arsenal forward Saka faults Mikel Arteta got benching ONE Player today

Arteta discussed White’s fitness in his pre-match press conference on Friday, deciding to keep the same defense that drew 2-2 with Liverpool in their last outing.

“With Ben we don’t know yet,” said the Arsenal manager earlier this week. “He could not train, so let’s see what happens.”

White, who recently returned after a month-long injury, started the last three games with the intention of resting for the Preston match to be ready for the game against the Magpies.

However, it’s evident that Arteta is being cautious with White’s latest setback, giving Partey another opportunity in defense while White takes a spot on the bench. According to football.london, this move is a precaution with the upcoming midweek Champions League match against Inter Milan in mind.

“Ben didn’t quite make it because he only had half a session yesterday,” the Arsenal manager said via TNT Sports. “It’s the third time he’s had a small issue, so we needed to protect him.”

Mikel Arteta is expected to start Thomas Partey at left-back again, with William Saliba, Gabriel, and Jurriën Timber completing Arsenal’s back four against Newcastle at St. James’ Park. Arteta confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Ben White, who has been dealing with a recurring injury, won’t start to ensure he’s fit for Arsenal’s Champions League match against Inter Milan. White, who recently returned from a month-long injury, had started the last three games but has been experiencing minor setbacks.

Arteta explained that White “only had half a session yesterday,” highlighting the need to manage his fitness carefully. By placing White on the bench and using Partey in the defense, Arteta aims to avoid further aggravating White’s injury while maintaining squad stability.
