After spending 12 years honing his skills, he has become one of the most celebrated goalkeepers in the club’s history since making the move from Atletico Madrid to Manchester in 2011.
Today, he departs from Old Trafford, leaving behind a remarkable legacy that includes 545 appearances, 190 clean sheets, and a plethora of accolades and records.
In a heartfelt message posted on his official Twitter account, David expressed his profound gratitude to the Manchester United fans:
“With a heavy heart, I bid farewell to all the Manchester United fans. I want to convey just how deeply thankful and moved I am for the love you’ve showered upon me during these past 12 years.
Ever since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson welcomed me to this club and bestowed upon me the privilege of wearing this emblem, we’ve achieved so much together. Each time I donned this jersey, I felt an immense sense of pride. It’s an honor bestowed upon only a select few, leading the team and representing this institution, the greatest club in the world.
Throughout my time here, the journey has been both successful and magnificent. As a young boy leaving Madrid, I could never have imagined the accomplishments we would achieve as a team. Now, it’s time for a new challenge, an opportunity to test my skills in different circumstances and embrace fresh beginnings.
Manchester has shaped me, and it will forever remain a part of who I am. I will always cherish this club, Old Trafford, and our incredible fans in my heart.
We’ve witnessed it all…”
