A rising star for Chelsea who is currently 21 years old is poised to leave the club.
If Ian Maatsen, who is currently 21 years old, and Chelsea are unable to reach an agreement on a new contract, the young player could depart the club in January.
According to The Telegraph, the international player for the Netherlands and the Stamford Bridge club have been unable to come to terms on a new deal.
The young player’s contract will expire at the conclusion of the current campaign; hence, if a deal has not been reached by that time, the Blues may try to sell him during the transfer window that will be open in the month of January.
The previous year, Maatsen was on loan with the Burnley club that was coached by Vincent Kompany. After Chelsea accepted £31.5 million for the fullback, he rejected the opportunity to join the squad on the final day of the transfer window. The transaction was for the fullback.
This season in the Premier League, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad has used Ian Maatsen as a substitute three times, and Maatsen has been brought on each time. During Chelsea’s Carabao Cup victory over Brighton, he made his second start of the season.
