As the fallout from Liverpool’s match against Tottenham on Saturday continues to have an effect, on Wednesday, Jurgen Klopp asked for a review of the game in response to the release of the VAR audio, which revealed that a significant error was made in determining that Luis Diaz’s goal should not have been counted as a goal.
The tape proved not only that a serious error was made, but also that the officials immediately knew it, but were unable to apply common sense to change the course of events. This was shown to be the case despite the fact that the error was promptly realised.
During his press conference earlier today, Jurgen Klopp addressed the event and stated that, despite the fact that it is highly unlikely, in his opinion, the game need to be redone.
The manager of Liverpool’s football team was quoted by the BBC as saying, “I think a replay is the right thing to do because something like this has never happened.”
Jurgen Klopp is interested in a rematch between Liverpool and Tottenham.
It has been reported by the BBC that the Premier League would not rerun the match between Tottenham and Liverpool; however, it is unknown whether the team from Merseyside has formally requested that this match be replayed.
When questioned about whether the team had asked or would request a replay from the Premier League, Klopp answered, “At this stage, we are still going through the information we have.”
Due to the fact that this is one of the most significant mistakes in the history of the VAR, it is likely that this will continue for some more time.
