The Chief Executive Officer of Manchester United, Richard Arnold, has stated that he is unable to provide much of an update regarding the potential acquisition of the club.

The Glazer family disclosed the previous year that they were open to the possibility of receiving financing from third parties or completely selling the club.

Both the Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe have presented offers to assume complete ownership of the club, but neither offer has been accepted as of yet. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani is the founder of INEOS.

According to a report that was published by 90min earlier this month, Ratcliffe is reportedly considering buying a minority share in United if he is unable to swiftly gain full control of the company.

Earlier this week, United had an event for its fans called a fans’ forum, and one of the issues that was posed to Arnold was related to the possible takeover. However, he was unable to provide a very substantial update on the situation.

“The club understood the desire for a resolution as soon as possible but reiterated that, as a publicly listed company, it was impossible to provide updates until such a time as there is an outcome that can be communicated to the market,” stated the president.

Arnold’s response to the question of whether or not the Glazers are aware of the fans’ desperate desire for the team to find new owners was as follows: “The club was transparent in its feedback to the owners.”

During his remarks at the event, United’s football director John Murtough disclosed that the club is conducting an investigation into the injury crisis that has afflicted them throughout the first half of their season, while Arnold defended the club’s recent dealings in player transfers.

Our choices throughout each transfer window are directed by the obvious long-term squad strategy that has been developed by John Murtough and the rest of the staff. We were aware that there would be a transition, but Arnold stated that he shares the displeasure of the playing group and fans because the results have not yet met their expectations.
