  • There are allegations that Manchester United served uncooked chicken at a corporate event.
  • There was a reduction in the sanitary rating for Old Trafford to one star out of five.
  • A statement has been issued by the club in response to the situation.

After receiving a rating of one star for food hygiene from the authorities, Manchester United’s season of infamy has continued in the most peculiar of ways.

Throughout the 2023–24 season, both on and off the field, the Red Devils have been mired in confusion and scandal, with this most recent discovery being probably the most bizarre indiscretion that has occurred up to this point.

Trafford Council has acknowledged that this has had a detrimental influence on United’s food hygiene rating, which was formerly a full five stars. In November, guests at a corporate event complained of feeling unwell after being fed raw chicken. This rating had previously been a perfect five stars.

A representative for the Trafford Council stated, “We are able to confirm that the hygiene rating for Old Trafford (Manchester United) has been downgraded from five to one.”

“This follows a food hygiene investigation following an incident where undercooked food was served at an event on 21 November.”

The following is an excerpt from a statement released by Manchester United: “Manchester United has one of the largest and most experienced food and beverage operations in world sport. Each year, more than 250,000 people dine at the stadium restaurants, and over 300 external events are successfully delivered.”

“Every matchday, the catering is enjoyed by over 8,000 people, served by 28 kitchens across the stadium, and the club is proud of the high standards and the 5-star food hygiene record which had been awarded to us for the past eight years.

“This was a single incidence, and the points of failure were located and remedied after they were discovered. Everyone who works at the club is resolute in their pursuit to reclaim our five-star certification in terms of food hygiene as quickly as possible. We are undertaking an impartial food audit in order to support that objective, and the purpose of the audit is to discover any additional areas for improvement.
