Napoli, the team who won the Italian championship, made fun of the striker’s failed penalty at the weekend, and after they shared a video of themselves doing so, Victor Osimhen became furious with them.
Napoli presented footage of Osimhen appealing for a penalty during the scoreless draw with Bologna on Sunday in a strange video that was shared on the team’s TikTok account. The film was accompanied by a squeaky, sped-up audio that was superimposed on top of it. After that, the Nigerian international player in the video that has since been deleted missed the penalty kick.
In the aftermath of his substitution in the last seconds of the scoreless draw with Bologna, which has already put the defending Serie A champions seven points behind Inter, Osimhen also got into an incident with Napoli head coach Rudi Garcia on the sidelines.
According to reports, the striker, who in the summer had Manchester United and Chelsea interested, is furious with Napoli’s post and has since deleted any photographs of the Serie A team from his official Instagram account.
Osimhen’s representative, Roberto Calenda, criticized Napoli’s social media post and threatened to sue the Serie A team.
In a statement released late on Monday, Calenda said, “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable.”
Only today did a video that poked fun of Victor become widely known before being taken down.
“A serious fact that seriously harms the player and makes the boy’s treatment worse in the recent period between media trials and false news.”
The statement reads, “We reserve the right to take legal action and any reasonable step to protect Victor.”
Osimhen, who scored 26 goals in Serie A last season, is not yet certain if he will participate in Napoli’s match against Udinese on Wednesday night.
