Man United’s terrible start to the season continued on Saturday with a loss to Crystal Palace at their own stadium, 1-0.
Marcus Rashford was substituted after 77 minutes despite having only one goal in the first eight games across all competitions.
After scoring 30 goals in the previous season, Erik ten Hag is looking for much more from his star forward.

Marcus Rashford, a star forward for Manchester United, is putting in a lot of effort to improve his goal-scoring, according to manager Erik ten Hag, who stated that Rashford is aware that he could ‘do better’ despite his efforts.
On Saturday, the Red Devils were given their fourth loss of the season in the Premier League after losing 1-0 at home to Crystal Palace. This is the Red Devils’ first season in the Premier League.
At Old Trafford, the home team was unable to create many clear-cut scoring opportunities, and despite the fact that they were in need of a goal, they decided to replace Rashford with the midfielder Christian Eriksen in the 77th minute.
Rashford had a career-best 2022–2023 season in which he scored 30 goals for United in 56 appearances, but he has only scored once in the first eight games of the new season.

Ten Hag delivered his assessment of Rashford’s underwhelming performance thus far in the season while speaking after United’s loss to Palace on Saturday.
“I believe that he is aware that he is capable of performing at a higher level than he currently is. He puts in a lot of effort, which is exactly what he does. The Dutchman predicted that he would score, that he would complete the play, and that it would come to him eventually; but, he warned that it would not be easy.
“Not only does he have to put in a lot of work, but so does the rest of the team surrounding him. Today, we were in the correct places, but our decision-making wasn’t as excellent as it needed to be, and as a result, we didn’t score.
United’s start to a league season has been their poorest in the past 34 years, as they have only collected nine points after playing in seven games. In that span of time, they have only managed to score seven goals while giving up eleven.
The team coached by Ten Hag has two more matches to play before the international break in October. On Tuesday, they will play Galatasaray in the Champions League at Old Trafford, and then on Saturday, they will play Brentford at home in the Premier League.
