Kean Bryan, a professional footballer who played for Sheffield United and Manchester City, was forced to retire when he was just 27 years old, according to information that has been made public.
The former defender scored the winning goal for the Blades in their historic 2-1 triumph over Manchester United at Old Trafford just two years ago, but he has since decided to hang up his cleats and retire from the sport.
Bryan’s early career with Manchester City was marked by great success, but he was never selected to play in a competitive game for the club. Instead, he chose to establish himself with a number of other lower-division clubs.
Today, Sheffield United recognised Bryan with a post on X and sent him well wishes, wishing him “all the best.”
Bryan offered the following justification for his decision: “I’m looking forward to starting fresh this year.” I would want to take this opportunity to officially declare that I will be leaving the National Football League. After two trying years of battling a knee ailment, unfortunately, I have been advised by my doctor that it is time for me to say a fond farewell to the sport of football.
“Just a young man who grew up in a Gorton council estate with the goal of become a professional football player and ultimately achieved that goal. The fact that I was able to play in the Premier League and for some of England’s most prestigious clubs is something that I will always cherish and be proud of.
