Despite the fact that Fabrizio Romano has been making significant connections between Phillips and Juventus, it is possible that Liverpool will make a last-ditch effort to keep the England international player in the Premier League.
According to Calciomercato, who also link Phillips with Juventus and Newcastle, it appears that Liverpool have entered the running for Phillips’ signature. However, this may be an ambitious move because it appears that Pep Guardiola is not interested in allowing the 28-year-old to join another English team.
It is certainly not a prudent move for City to sell to Liverpool at a time when both clubs are competing for the Premier League title this year. It is possible that Guardiola is also lamenting the fact that he allowed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to join Arsenal during the previous season.
Phillips is a talented player who has been deprived of more opportunities to play at the Etihad Stadium. It is not difficult to believe that he would have a significant influence after moving to Liverpool.
However, the Reds made a number of changes to their midfield over the course of the summer, and it is currently unknown whether or not they will actually make it an urgent priority to add to the recent arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo in that position.
