The January transfer market has been closed with Liverpool completing two signings on the last day of the deadline.
Although Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp was content with the players he already had, the club's transfer window was rather quiet throughout the month of January. However, the Reds did make some loan signings throughout the month.
Liverpool, much like the majority of Premier League clubs, didn’t make any moves during the January transfer window because they decided to focus on getting ready for the summer break.
During the month of January, the news of Jurgen Klopp’s resignation, as well as the departures of his staff and Jorg Schmadtke, the sporting director, dominated the headlines. The view on the transfer front was also altered as a result of this, and the attention was shifted to the summer, when Klopp’s successor will have the opportunity to make decisions regarding new players.
Another factor that is crucial is the fact that Liverpool is now in first place in the Premier League table and is still competing in all four competitions. It was not necessary to add any players to Klopp’s squad, especially considering that Andy Robertson had recently returned from his injury.
Consequently, Liverpool made the decision to reorganize their group of loanees by transferring them from one team to another. Nat Phillips was brought back from Celtic and then transferred to Cardiff; Fabio Carvalho was brought back from RB Leipzig and transferred to Hull; Calvin Ramsey was brought back from Preston and transferred to Bolton; and James Balagizi was brought back from Wigan and transferred to Kilmarnock.
