In the midst of Manchester United's problems in the Premier League, former Tottenham and QPR manager Harry Redknapp has offered a blistering indictment of Erik ten Hag's Manchester United squad, describing them as "bang average."

It appears like United’s chances of finishing in the top four of the league are quite low given that they are now in sixth place and have suffered 11 losses in the league.

In spite of the fact that they have been successful in defeating Aston Villa twice this season, their lack of consistency has inhibited their growth, particularly with two consecutive defeats.

“At one point, I thought they could finish in the top four, but then they lose convincingly to Manchester City and then they lose at home to Fulham,” Redknapp said in an interview with BetVictor. “To tell you the truth, I believe that they are about average.”

Additionally, Redknapp brought attention to the contrast between the current United team and the great squads that Sir Alex Ferguson had coached, pointing out that there are no players on the current club who are capable of matching the standard of former legends.

I don’t see Manchester United coming anywhere near winning the trophy or coming close to doing so in the next few years either,” he added.

“At the present, they are miles away from even coming close to winning the title.”

Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund are two young talents that Redknapp highlighted as having the ability to make a huge impact for United in the future.

This is despite the fact that Redknapp’s evaluation was scathing.

It was Redknapp who made the observation that “Kobbie Mainoo will certainly go on and become a top player for Manchester United.”

We have some of the top players in the world in that England team, including Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice, and I believe that we are rather loaded up with midfielders in that England team.

In terms of the European Championships that will take place this summer…”

With regard to Hojlund, Redknapp believes that there is a possibility that he may be able to compete for the Premier League Golden Boot in the future, taking into consideration the many candidates.

Redknapp came to the conclusion that “He could have as big of a chance as anybody in the future,” stressing the positive prospects despite the difficulties that United is currently facing.
