In a very bold and brutally honest statement, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has come forward to reveal the one player he believes is doing more damage to the club than anyone else – and it’s neither Alejandro Garnacho nor Bruno Fernandes.
According to Scholes, the individual dragging the team backward and contributing significantly to its downfall is none other than Marcus Rashford. The former midfielder, known for his no-nonsense analysis, didn’t hold back as he questioned Rashford’s attitude, commitment, and overall influence on the current United dressing room.
Scholes, speaking during The Overlap Fan Debate, emphasized that Rashford has disappointed the club with his poor attitude on and off the pitch, adding that his current behavior is toxic to the development of young stars in the squad.
He stressed that Rashford’s lack of fight, refusal to track back, and absence of urgency is not just a personal flaw but something that could negatively influence younger players like Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, who are still learning what it means to wear the Manchester United badge.
Scholes went as far as suggesting that Rashford should be removed from the squad entirely if he continues on this path, stating clearly that there is no room at the club for anyone who is not fully committed to the cause.
This criticism has echoed manager Ruben Amorim’s recent stance as well. Since Amorim’s arrival, Rashford has seen reduced game time and has often been left out of key fixtures, something the manager defended by stating that he would rather include the 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital in the squad than a player who is not giving 100 percent effort on a daily basis.
This kind of statement has fueled speculations that Rashford’s days at Old Trafford might be numbered, especially if there’s no dramatic change in his attitude and work rate before the summer transfer window opens.
