NYON, a region in Switzerland The governing body of European soccer stated on Friday that Barcelona's appeal against the club being fined 500,000 euros ($537,000) for fabricating income in violation of the regulations governing financial monitoring was unsuccessful.
The club finance panel of UEFA imposed the fine in July after Barcelona declared income in 2022 from the “disposal of intangible assets (other than player transfers),” which is not considered a relevant income under the standards.
The current Spanish champion is experiencing some financial troubles, and UEFA has not released the specifics of the revenue that was included in their records as a result of this.
In June of 2022, Barcelona came to an arrangement with Sixth Street, an investment company, whereby Sixth Street would receive 10% of the revenue earned by Barcelona’s domestic broadcast rights for a period of 25 years in exchange for 207 million euros ($222 million).
